The museum as failure

Beschreibung
Failures are an integral part of any cultural work, whether intended or not. But can't the construction of the museum be generally interpreted as a failure? At least with regard to the invention of ethnological museums in the 19th century, this is certainly true from today's perspective. Created from a purely European, colonial thought, they presented the "foreign" as opposed to the European "own". For a long time, they have thus legitimized the dominance of Europe, as part of identity. Can this failure be overcome today? Can museums overcome their original meaning and message?
